Fear of the Lord

In one of my classes last night we had the opportunity to briefly discuss the church in America and just some general observations what state the church is in. While it was a good discussion with some insightful thoughts from my classmates we seemed to miss something. As I sat there and listened it hit me. I read earlier that day Psalm 25 and remembered that David explains that those who fear the Lord will have have their path shown by Him. There is little fear of the Lord by many people today. There is nothing sacred about the Holy. We treat God as almost a commodity and as someone who must fit in our box of life. There is little reverence for the King of Glory. I shared my thoughts about it and the class had the opportunity to reflect and share their thoughts around this idea. Has the fear of the Lord diminished in the church and do we truly honor and revere the sacred?
